CSV to JSON Converter Online

CSV to JSON Converter

Paste CSV or upload a .csv file. The first row is used as headers. Quoted commas, escaped quotes and multiline fields are supported.

Ready. Your data is processed in this browser.

How to convert CSV to JSON

Paste CSV text into the input area or choose a CSV file. The converter reads the first row as field names and turns each following row into a JSON object. Select Convert / Process, review the JSON output, and download the result as a .json file.

Example CSV input

name,city,age\nAyesha,Lahore,28\nBilal,Karachi,32

CSV formatting supported

The parser supports quoted fields, commas inside quoted values, escaped double quotes and line breaks inside quoted fields. Empty header cells are assigned a generic column name. Values are returned as strings, so convert numeric or date fields in your application when you need typed values.

Frequently asked questions

Does the first CSV row become JSON keys?

Yes. The first row is used as the property names for each JSON object.

Are numbers automatically converted to numbers?

No. CSV values are returned as strings to avoid changing the original text.

Can fields contain commas?

Yes. Put fields containing commas inside double quotes, following standard CSV quoting rules.

CSV headers, quoted values and JSON output

The first row of a typical CSV file contains the column names. The converter uses those headings as JSON object keys and maps the values from each following row to the matching key. This is a practical way to turn spreadsheet exports into data that an application or API workflow can consume.

CSV fields may contain commas, quotation marks or line breaks when they are correctly enclosed in double quotes. A quotation mark inside a quoted field is represented by two quotation marks. Check that your source file follows these conventions if a row appears to split into the wrong number of columns.

CSV does not define data types as strictly as JSON. Treat converted values as text unless you review and deliberately transform numbers, dates, booleans or empty cells for your target application.
